Equipment for the Desert
While this list is not exhaustive these are just a few things I won't go into the desert without.
|When out in the desert you need the right equipment. One of my favorite pieces of equipment is a hydration backpack. They allow you to have a back pack that can carry 60 - 100 ounces of water plus they have pockets for other gear you may want to carry. A simple easy to use drinking tube makes for a perfect fit, that cold drink is just a few sips away and best of all it won't slow you down. Just keep moving and drinking, keep yourself hydrated the easy way!
|A GPS unit is one of the most valuable tools you can have whether gold prospecting, quading, hunting hiking or whatever! It is a great way to mark where you have been and when location a particular spot a GPS cannot be beat! The Garmin ETrex is the unit I use in conjunction with Map Source and National Geographic TOPO! software.
|Snake Gaiters are a must have in the desert. While most snake bites occur somewhere between the tip of the finger and elbow a lot of people still get bit on the leg. And if you want the best defense against cactus as you walk snake gaiters offer that protection too. A double shot of prevention!
